(5 km) Santa Marinha is the most impressive of all Pousadas. Converted from a convent, the building dates from Roman times and many original Roman and Arabic features have been retained. A medieval chapel still exists and the original cloisters are now spacious lounges and sitting areas with magnificent vaulted ceilings. The bar is partially lined with the blue and white ceramic tiles ‘Azulejos’ typical of the region and the restaurant retains its ancient stone walls and arches.
