The fashionable district of Bairro Alto, located on one of Lisbon’s seven hills, is home to the 5-star, boutique hotel of the same name. Dating from the 16th century this up and coming quarter has retained its original character, whilst attracting many new boutique shops, restaurants and some of the finest fado cafes in the city over recent years.
At the heart of the district, on the square of Luis Vaz de Camoes (named after the famous Portuguese poet) stands the Hotel Bairro Alto. Housed within a fine 19th century building, this character hotel opened in 2005 and offers its clients the highest standard of accommodation. Attention to detail is apparent throughout the hotel and particularly evident in the bedrooms where contemporary and traditional designs tastefully contrast against a backdrop of warm Portuguese-spirited colours. On the 6th floor a roof top terrace with panoramic views over the city to the river Tagus awaits guests after a day’s exploration. The sunsets from the terrace are spectacular.
