Lysos is an agricultural village with a mini-market, two coffee shops, a folk museum and a forest station. The seaside town of Polis, where there are water sports facilities, on the edge of the Akamas National Park, is a twenty minute drive. There is also a donkey sanctuary about half a mile away where you may be able to participate in a ‘donkey safari’.

The forest of Lysos lies at the edge of the vast Paphos Forest and is great walking and cycling country, rich in bird-life and wild flowers. Two small rivers flow through and afford ideal picnic spots. But, make for the old forest station at Ayios Merkourios if you want to see the rare, shy moufflon in the wild – you may be lucky. It is about 4km north northeast of Lysos.
