Maroni is a delightful village set apart from the normal tourist scene and a good base for touring the Island. Midway between Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca, it is set near a dry river valley with views of the sea. A sandy beach is about 3 minutes drive to the south and it is an hour’s drive north to the Troodos Mountain Range. The neighbouring village of Zigi is renowned for its waterside fish tavernas. There are other villages nearby with tavernas. Maroni has a supermarket, bank, post office and hairdresser as well as someone who leads walks.
