This listed Tochni stone house was built in the 19th century by the owners family. In the 1920s it was given as a dowry to her great aunt. The house was completely restored in 2006. At the turn of the century the men of the family cultivated wheat and barley on the land using oxen. The women harvested carobs and olives, spun and loomed silk, cured pig, kept fowl and worked lace for the merchants of Lefkara. Wine was more plentiful than water, which was brought for drinking by donkey from the nearby mountain village of Vavla. The renovations were about to be completed in July 2006 when these pictures were taken.
