Douro Cruise - Porto
Sunvil are able to pre-book sightseeing cruises along the meandering Douro river. There are a number of cruise itineraries available to suit all interests and timescales ranging from a 55-minute sightseeing cruise of Porto, to a 1-day cruise to the picturesque village of Pinhao (returning to Porto by train) or an 8-day river cruise. Port Wine Academy
Located at the Hotel Vintage House in Pinhao, the Port Wine Academy offers guests and non-residents the opportunity to learn about, and appreciate the world famous port wine. There are three options that you can choose from:
The Port Experience takes place everyday and is designed to offer an introduction to the infinite variety of port, its history, the art of blending and the pairing of individual wines with food. The price is £17 per person and includes tutored tastings of white port and 10 and 20-year old tawny ports. For £26 per person, participants can also taste a 40-year old tawny port (and for groups of six or more a bottle of vintage port can be opened).
The Wine Experience (3-hour course) takes place every Saturday and offers participants an introduction to wine including the different world wine regions and the varieties of grape. Other days of the week can be arranged and pre-booked with advance warning of two weeks. The price is £60 per person (minimum 4 persons) and includes tutored tasting of sparkling wine, red and white wine and two fortified wines.
Port of Flavours Gourmet Tasting: This wine tasting enables participants to learn how to combine port wine with food. The course costs £24 per person and includes five varieties of port, each served with a different gourmet appetizer:
- Extra Dry White Port combined with tuna on toast
- 10 Years Old Tawny Port combined with pineapple wrapped in smoked ham
- 40 Years Old Tawny Port combined with prawn kebabs
- Premium Ruby or Late Bottled Vintage Port combined with octopus
- Vintage Port combined with rabbit pasty
Helicopter Flight - Porto
Sunvil are able to organise sightseeing tours by helicopter over Porto, Portugal’s second city. A 10-minute flight, based on 2 persons, costs £75 per person. Longer tours are available on request.
